Social Competition

Junior Social Games

The Junior Social Games (U18) is played at Toorak College, Mt Eliza on a Tuesday night 6.30-8.30pm. These games are not competitive and are meant as a fun way for kids to get to learn the sport. Girls play from 6.30-7.20pm, and boys play from 7.30-8.20pm. New kids are free to come down and play, a team will be found for them. If a team of 6 new kids are going to join however, we would like to be notified first at: mornington@morningtonvolleyball.org. The first time is free, and is $60 per term afterwards, paid yearly and is pro-rata. E.g. join term 2, pay for terms 2,3 and 4. You should also register for a VVI Silver membership from our Memberships page, which entitles you to sports insurance and makes you a member of both Volleyball Victoria, and Mornington Volleyball Club. A Silver membership costs $44 for U18 and $55 for everyone else.

Senior Social Comp

The Senior Social Comp is for all ages. It's played at Jubilee Park Stadium, Frankston on a Wednesday night 7-10pm. The competition is mixed with no restrictions on the number of men and women required. The timeslots are from 7-7.50pm, 8-8.50pm, 9-9.50pm. The competition is split into A-grade (experienced players recommended), B-grade (beginner to intermediate), and Social Grade (beginners). For information on entering a team or joining a team please contact the Mornington Volleyball Social Comp facebook group, or see the expression of interest form linked here; new teams can enter the social competition at the beginning of every school term.

The schedule for Senior Social Comp can be found in the Draws & Results page, or on the facebook group. The ladder can be found on the ladder page. It costs each team $60 per game to play, and is paid through the TeamPay app. You should also register for a VVI Silver membership from our Memberships page, which entitles you to sports insurance and makes you a member of both Volleyball Victoria, and Mornington Volleyball Club. A Silver membership costs $44 for U18 and $55 for everyone else.

Rules

When entering the comp, teams are committing to at least one term. The schedule is generated one term at a time, so all teams know every game and duty they can expect to play well in advance. Thus, if a team forfeits with more than 48 hours notice, they will incur a forfeit fee of the cost of the game. A forfeit with less than 48 hours notice incurs a forfeit fee of twice the cost of the game, to cover the other teams fees as well.

Approximately once every two weeks, each team is required to supply three players to perform duty. Duty helps facilitate lower costs for your game fees, and allows the comp to run smoothly. Each duty, an A grade player will main referee each court, and the B and Social grade duty members will net referee and operate the scoreboard. You don't need to know how perform any duty roles beforehand, we are more than happy to help you learn, and each role is simple and easy to pick up. The duty teams for each game can be found  in the schedule next to the teams playing in each time slot. If your team is on duty, it will always be on the same court, and always be either the timeslot before or after your own game.
